Principal's Message

Welcome Woodchucks to the 2019-2020 school year!  I am honored and humbled to be able to continue serving the students, staff, parents and community members of Elmer Wood Elementary School.  The Elmer Wood staff is dedicated to the success of all of our students both academically and socially in order to best prepare them for participation in tomorrow’s world.

Immediately apparent when you step foot on our campus is the culture and rich tradition that Elmer Wood offers our community.  This culture is both one of academic excellence and of strong moral character. Students demonstrate the components of “The Elmer Wood Way” on a daily basis to include being kind and helping others every day, following directives and being the best one can be.

Staff expectations are high for both themselves and for our students.  Staff are committed to providing instructional excellence as we transition into the era of Common Core State Standards in order to ensure that we develop students who possess the literacy and critical thinking skills necessary to master the standards of each grade level.  Staff expectations of our Woodchuck students include a commitment to their education as evidenced by assignment completion, regular attendance, development of a respect for and love of learning and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

We ask that parents and community members partner with us to continue to mold our students in becoming lifelong learners and to assist us in creating our “masterpieces in the making.”

I am looking forward to an amazing year with each of you!

With gratitude,

Kelli Parreira
